This is a trip for some of the more adventurous souls. Leaving Miami heading east aboard a 50' sailboat to the small island called Bimini. Once there we'll clear customs (passport needed) and spend the night. Relax in some of the famous places like the 'End of the World Saloon". One thing Bimini dose not have a shortage of is bars & tee shirt shops. Next day will find us at the wreck of the Subpoena. This is a concrete ship that ran aground in w.w. II and was used as target practice for fighter pilots ever since. I'm sure you all recall the story about the fighter squadron that disappeared in the Bermuda triangle?. Well this was where they where returning from. Kind of spooky but its a great wreck to snorkel !!! Just about every fish known can be found here. She's in about 15' of water and stands about 30' above the water. Easy to locate as it's visible from the horizon, getting around the reefs to get there, well, that's the fun of sailing in the Bahamas . NO PROBLEM MON ! Heading further south and rounding the horn at Gun Key. Set the anchor off the deserted dock on the west side of the island. Once home to the U.S.C.G. Bahama Station, this is where they possessed drug runners that where caught . The station was wiped out in a hurricane and never rebuilt. Gun Key is now completely uninhabited.  With it's white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. It is truly one of the prettier places to visit. At the northern end of this 1 1/2 X 1/4  mile island is a natural harbor Called Honeymoon Harbor, in the past 10 years has filled in with sand somewhat. Making it too shallow for sailboats and is home to the friendliest Manta Rays I've come across. You can hand feed them if you wish. they will surely follow you around and they aren't camera shy . All around the Island is just breathtaking snorkeling. Some swim through caves (not deep) and just beautiful under water scenery. Perhaps a short run to Cat Key that lays to the south for supplies might be in order. It's private island, they don't mind if we visit and spend our money but no over night stays at this island.  In this area are great snorkeling opportunities at the several reefs or relax on any of the sandy beaches.

Keep in mind we will NOT be going to any of the commercial ports in the Bahamas. This is truly a get-away-from-it-all sailing trip

Plan to be in Miami Wednesday night to board the boat. We will leave the dock at first light on Thursday morning. Returning Sunday about 6:00.
